My "ïnjury"

Reyden's post:

Barely 2 weeks from 1st day of school and the school called. I've fell during PE lessons and knocked my forehead hard on the ground. I was feeling giddy thus teacher informed Daddy/Mummy to bring me home. Good thing Daddy was on leave. I felt better after a nap, guess the fall isn't quite serious except for the bruise.

Reyden's tooth!!

Or rather, it's Reyden's toothless! Haha!

I've been bugging Mummy about why Reyes and my classmates had already some teeth changed but mine still intact. My molars aren't even out yet!

I was ecstatic when the tooth fell out. There's some white bits growing out at the back so I won't be toothless for too long.

Reynee at her 1st Toddler's church class

I had missed the 1st lesson with Gorgor and Jiejie due to a fever. I get to join for today's and there happened to be a blessing session (I feel so blessed!). I behaved well throughout the class except that I will wander around during the story telling time. The teachers and aunties said I will get better. Let's hope so!

On a side note, Gorgor had impressed Mummy with his four words of being good. He wrote love, be nice, share and FORGIVE! Mummy says he has a big heart.

p.s: She wonders who he wanna forgive though.

Reyden on a 2 wheeler

Mummy's post:

This post had been long "overdue". Overdue as in this milestone should have been hit eons ago. I was excited when I saw him managed to cycle on the 2 wheeler and exclaimed "yeah, 你会了!"  He smiled and said "我的朋友早就会了". It dawned on me how much he had missed out or rather how much we had missed out on him lately.

He had asked us to teach him since like a year ago? But we procrastinated and brushed it off due to the time constraint. Finally found the time to do it these 2 days. It merely took him the 2-days sessions to learn this skill. He must have felt upset when he sees his friends cycling 2-wheelers prior to this. His progression had been limited by our lack of time for him (and Reyes too). We'll need to look into more time spend with the twins from now on.

Side note: Reyes had a go at it too but I guess she will need a few more sessions.

Reyden gotten his yellow tip belt!

The boy has gotten his yellow tip belt! This is his 1st grading after being in taekwondo for almost a year. Not that he wasn't ready but cos some of the test dates had clashed with some events and anyway we had thought it'll be good not to rush him for the grading.

He did a pretty good job this time and I'm so proud of him.

Carpe Diem Sports Day

Reyden's post:
I had my 1st Sports Day! It was a combined event by Hougang Carpe Diem 1 & 2. The teachers had planned many relay games for all the levels and I took part in 2 items! However Meimei's down with fever. Daddy & Mummy brought her to sit aside and watch.

Escalator scare

Reyden had a minor "accident" today. His leg got scratched badly by the escalator, went to a GP, got the wound cleaned and dressed. Hope he learns his lesson not to fiddle around on a escalator in future.

The wedding of Uncle Sean and Aunty Clara

Reyden's post:

Finally it's my turn to attend a wedding dinner with Mummy! I almost couldn't make it cos I was down with stomach flu yesterday but luckily I recovered in time. Mummy had wanted to let me rest at home and bring Reyes instead but think I had passed the bug to her. She started having fever and diarrhea since morning ...

Anyway, I behaved quite well throughout the dinner though I was kind of shy. It was the wedding of Mummy's secondary school classmates - Uncle Sean and Aunty Clara. We wish them all the best in their newly married life!

Reyden's Terrible 2s

Mummy's post:

Reyden had gotten his 1st and 2nd caning over last weekends. And I guess there might be more to come.
The 1st time Kent lost his temper and used the cane was some time last week when Reyden pushed Reyes and caused her to fall head down on the floor. This resulted in a big big "baluku" on her forehead. Though this isn't the 1st time he pushes her (and everytime we'll scold or tell him sternly that it's wrong) but this is certainly the biggest "injury" caused so far.

Over the weekends, Reyden pushed Kent's patience towards the limit further with all the fussing and tantrums. The acts include refusing to sleep, disturbing the sister during nap times, throwing his toys, crying for things that he wasn't suppose to play with & etc ... I knew that he does understand what he did were wrong cos I witnessed him throwing some papers into the washing machine. He took them out the moment he caught sight of me staring at him. I didn't even need to scream at him. But why does he want to do it in the 1st place? For fun? Or attention?

Then the last straw came when Kent picked them on his own on Monday. He stormed to the kitchen for the cane the moment they reached home. And before I had time to react, the cane landed on RR's backsides a few times. I was told that Reyden was picking up twigs and leaves, roaming around, ran to the playground without permission and refused to come back despite coaxing, shouting and dragging. And Reyes just followed the brother blindly.

The next morning Reyes told me "Meimei 屁股痛痛" and I could see a cane mark on her backside. I thought Reyden would have more but when I wanted to see his backside and asked him whether is it painful, he refused to let me see and answered me defiantly "不痛!不痛!"??? I continued to ask him "Are you scared of Daddy caning?". He said "No, Gorgor not scared". I almost fainted.

After much discussion and advice from some mummies, I concluded caning and shouting is still much undesirable. I had spoken to Kent and he too agreed that it doesn't seem to help and therefore he had decided not to use the cane on any of them again. (It's a relieve for me cos it actually hurts me to see the kids being caned.)

I managed to dig out the blog post about Reyes' T2s many months back. Reading thru the experience and tips I gotten that time made me see the situation in a clearer picture. Reyden's apparently going thru the T2 stage now and we should apply those tips instead of losing it at him.

Well, whether it works or not with him, I don't know. But at least for the last 2 days when we didn't shout or scream at him, he was able to listen to us and we were in better control. So talking to him and taking control might be a better way out. I just hope it'll pass by soon.

3rd morning with dry diaper

Mummy's post:

This is the 3rd morning that Reyden woke up with a dry diaper. He'll wake us up once or twice every night when he needs to go to the toilet. Seems like he's more aware of what's this toilet-training is all about.

Though Reyes was 4 months ahead of him to get toilet-trained in the daytime but when it comes to night time, she's still on pull ups and won't wake up to go to the toilet. I was told that I'll need to wake her up but I guess it's the laziness in me. I had thought that since she had already helped me save on the daytime diapers, I could afford to drag till later for the night training. It was the same thoughts when Reyden got toilet-trained in the daytime. However this boy had been rather persistent and consistent with his own night training as well. He'll make sure he goes to the toilet before sleep, wakes us up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet so that he won't pee in the pull ups.

I'll just need another few more days of indication to know if I should let him go without night diapers as well. Bless us ...

Reyden's toilet-trained!!!

Mummy's post:

I'm proud to announce that Reyden at 26mths old is finally toilet-trained for daytime! It's hard to understand my excitement and happiness cos all along I thought it'll take forever for him to be trained. I had tried for quite sometime after Reyes was being trained but gave up eventually cos he'll pee everywhere except in the toilet. He'll simply just sit on the toilet seat and refused to pee. I thought I might as well continue to put him in diapers for the sake of my sanity and his safety (in case I beat him to death, haha!).

However a week ago when I came across some nice Thomas underwears at Tom and Stephanie, I decided to get for him. I know he had been quite jealous over Reyes' collection of Hello Kitty, Princess, Barney and Strawberry shortcake panties. He loves the briefs and it took me by surprise when he told me one morning "gorgor big boy, no wear pampers. I want wear underwear, same meimei."

So I took the "risk" and let him went to school without diaper but with lots of emphasis that he musn't "shh shh" in underwear, must tell Teacher Mylene & etc ... I thought will just let him try it out and the school will probably put him back on diapers if there are too many "accidents".

When I picked him up that day, the teachers told me he had 2 accidents that day though he was able to tell them when he needs to pee and poo a few other times. I thought the teachers were about to tell me that he's not ready yet and I should put him back on diaper. However they didn't! And they told me to bring more shorts for him the next day and they'll continue to let him go without diapers. I was so grateful for that.

And after 3 days of "accidents", he finally came back home with no more soiled shorts! We certainly owe this "success" to the CC and teachers. My dream of going to Genting (yes, we are going again end of Jun) diaperless is coming true!!

Reyden's haircut

Daddy, Mummy and Yiyi had brought us for breakfast at Compasspoint. Mummy thought Reyden needed a haircut and it might be a good chance to let Daddy see why we need to pay so much for it instead of going to a normal hair salon. Reyden was rather cooperative thruout and the haircut was quite a fast one. At least that justified the $ spent.

A date with Reyden

Mummy's post:

Yeah!! RR had gotten clearance from GP to go back to the childcare centre. Ok, the question is when do I want them back? The initial plan was to send them back next Mon. However my backache is acting up and had been having giddy spells and headaches these 2 days. I guess it must be due to the lack of sleep and rest so I decided to send Reyes back to the centre today and keep Reyden with me. Reason being I felt that I had neglected Reyden since Reyes' hospitalisation last week. He was mostly taken care of by Waipo and Daddy and I couldn't give him my full attention even when Reyes and I were back from the hospital. Thus I thought I'll bring him out today and spend some quality time with him.

We went Go-Go Bambini, had lunch, played and then made our way to Vivocity for a walk. Being out with him and Reyes are a total 2 different stories. Reyes will be rattling on and on and expects me to "converse" with her non-stop whereas Reyden being "a boy of few words", he'll keep quiet most of the time till he wants something or has something to tell me. I noticed too that he didn't enjoy himself as much as when Reyes was around. And he would think of the sister each time he sees something that relates to her. This came as a little surprising cos I would expect Reyes to be more sticky to him instead of the other way round.

Anyway the outing today was great cos it gave me the chance to pay more attention to Reyden, observe his developments and talk to him. I'll probably plan for a day out each month with each of them individually. Think that's equally important as family time together. They are still 2 individual kids afterall ...

Day 4 of Reyden's sickness

Reyden's post:

As what Mummy had expected, today's food intake is worse than yesterday. The only thing that's worth happy about is I'm still drinking my milk, water, and yoghurt drink. There's nothing much to mention about solid food though except that I had abit of the pasta Mummy prepared for Mei Mei. Oh ya, but I did had a few pieces of the seaweed biscuits just before bedtime. Mummy suspected that I'm actually recovering but it's just in my mind that the ulcers still hurts. Guess she'll have to put in abit of effort in coaxing me to eat tomorrow.

The chicken porridge that was specially cooked for me but I refused to eat. I had some of Mei Mei's pasta instead. Apparently that looks more appetising.

Reyden's new haircut

Waipo and Mummy brought me for a haircut at Compasspoint Supercuts today. The experience this time round is so much better than the last 2 times. I get to sit in a "car" and watched Barney throughout the haircut. Mummy made an exclusion and gave me a lollipop to suck on too. No crying and fussing for the 15mins I was there. Mummy was pretty pleased with the service at the salon though it costs a whopping $21.40. Daddy commented that he had never cut his hair for anything above $10.
