A day at Vivocity

Reyes' post:
I followed Mummy, Yiyis and Yipo on a shopping trip again. Waipo came to join us after work. We were at Vivocity for the whole day with great lunch at Hongkong Kim Gary Restaurant and a wonderful dinner at Dian Xiao Er (店小二). We ended the day with some shots at the Christmas lightings area.

Zoo trip

The weather was pretty nice today therefore Daddy suggested that we go to the zoo. The last trip was quite disappointing due to the rain.

Mummy realised we were able to enjoy the zoo excursion much better now. We'll ask questions about the animals, talk to Daddy and Mummy about them and etc ... Every little thing in the zoo made us curious. We spent the day walking on our own without asking to be carried. Daddy and Mummy could see our excitement. Let's hope it won't rain that often so that we can go back to the zoo again soon!

Milestones at 32 mths

Mummy's post:

The last time I posted about their milestones was probably few months back. I guess at this age, this stage, it's rather hard to document all their milestones as they are really growing and learning at a very fast pace. I get surprises every morning when I wake up and everyday when I pick them from school. Their speech development, fine and gross motor skills, understanding power and etc ... improved tremendously. Reyes could speak in long sentences (which makes sense now) of 6-10 words in both English and Mandarin. I am glad that both use Mandarin as their primary languages though Reyden's 发音 for Chinese is still not as clear. I think girls are probably better in their languages.

The other thing is I've started to teach them dialects - Hokkien and Cantonese and apparently Reyes' better at it too. She managed to speak her 1st Hokkien and Cantonese sentences. Reyden can do it too but then again, it isn't too clear.

They'll tell Kiki that whenever there's thunder.

Other than speech, the other milestone is toilet-training. Reyden's faster in this aspect. He can now go to the toilet on his own (except for poo that needs cleaning up) & sleep without his pull ups at night. He'll wake up once (or sometimes not at all) in the middle of the night to pee and that'll last till he wakes up in the morning. In fact he's the one who says he had grown up and don't want the pull ups. Well, so far so good, my mattress isn't ruined yet. So I would say he's fully diaperless now!

As for Reyes, we had put her off diapers for naps in school. However cos she still wakes up with wet pull ups in the morning, I guess it should be long way to go before she's fully trained for nights.

Activities at home

Now that Mummy is busy with work, we don't get to do much activities at home after we come back from school. However there are 2 things which we'll ask to do daily - colouring and doing our jigsaw puzzles.

We came across these nice 40 pieces Barney puzzles at NTUC Fairprice few months back and our "collection" grew over the months. We like the puzzles for the Barney characters and Mummy likes them for being able to help us in our concentration. Mummy was pretty surprised to see that though Reyden is the more active one but he actually has the patience to complete the puzzles on his own. Reyes used to take very long time to complete one and sometimes would give up out of frustration. However lately we noticed she too had developed the patience to sit down and complete at least 2 puzzles at one go.

And at times when Mummy says there'll be gummies bears after completing, we'll "work together" to complete the puzzles! 人多好办事 - We'll only need 10mins to complete each puzzle rather than the normal 20mins when we do it on our own.

Puzzle fun

Meimei, hurry up. Finish this and we'll have gummies bears to eat!

okie, okie

Gorgor, this piece goes here.

Ok ...

Yeah!! Done!!

We love to do colouring and letter tracings too but that can only be done when Daddy's around else only Reyes gets to do it. Mummy still couldn't figure out how to hold Reyden's right hand to write with her left hand.

Playtime!!

Cook, cook, cook and eat, eat, eat ...

Our training chopsticks are here!!

Mummy thinks that it's time we start to learn how to use the chopsticks when she came across a bulk purchase for training chopsticks in the Singapore Motherhood Forum. She gotten us a pair each - Thomas and Yellow Rabbit. She was hoping there's something nicer for the left-handers but they only have the yellow rabbit.

This is my dinner

I need a big mouth to eat this big lion

Hehehe, I'm going to eat you up.

Urm!!

We need to eat some greens too.

Ok, enough of it. Mummy will let us try using these with real food tomorrow.

Follow-up post

We managed to use the training chopsticks for our fruits after dinner.
