Our training chopsticks are here!!

Mummy thinks that it's time we start to learn how to use the chopsticks when she came across a bulk purchase for training chopsticks in the Singapore Motherhood Forum. She gotten us a pair each - Thomas and Yellow Rabbit. She was hoping there's something nicer for the left-handers but they only have the yellow rabbit.

This is my dinner

I need a big mouth to eat this big lion

Hehehe, I'm going to eat you up.

Urm!!

We need to eat some greens too.

Ok, enough of it. Mummy will let us try using these with real food tomorrow.

Follow-up post

We managed to use the training chopsticks for our fruits after dinner.

Punishment for Reyes or Daddy & Mummy?

Mummy's post:

All the while I've been complaining more about Reyden's mischievious acts and naughty behaviours. However recently Reyes' behaviour had been a concern too. She started to get upset with us, sob in silence or refuse to talk to us if we scold or even raise our voice slightly at her. This is especially so after Kent scolds her each time. She'll sulk and refuse to talk to him, let him touch her, bath/feed her and even tell him "我生爸爸的气,因为他骂我。"

There was once when I found her sobbing in the room for almost an hour. When asked what happened, she told me "我不喜欢你大大声骂我". In summary, she had us "manipulated" with her words and reactions to our scoldings and disciplining. This put us in a very difficult position whenever we want to discipline her.

For this I can still handle it fine. Perhaps cos I have more patience with her and she's more willing to listen to me so I'll talk to her nicely most of the time. However there will still be time when Kent needs to step in to teach and things turn nasty sometimes ... That was the case for last night.

The cause of scolding for both kids was a trivial one but Reyes had to throw tantrums at Kent and bang on the mattress while I was in the washroom. The cane was already whipped out when I came out of the washroom. She got 3 strokes of it, 2 on her thighs and 1 on her backside. This is the 1st time I've seen her so scared and she cried till she started to shiver. Though we agreed not to intervene when the other party is disciplining the kids but I had to put a stop and hold her away. She couldn't stop crying and eventually vomitted ...

As I was bathing her, she was more or less calmed down. I asked her "你知道为什么爸爸打你吗?" and she could answer me "因为我坏蛋,不乖" before starting to sob again. My tears rolled down with hers. It hurt me so badly. I knew that she understood what she did was wrong but she just didn't expect Daddy to really cane her. So it came as a shock to her.

She promised me not to be naughty or throw tantrums at Daddy again and went to bed with teary eyes. And that was after saying sorry to Daddy ... The episode ended with Kent having to wash the soiled bedsheets and me very much affected by the flashbacks of her being caned. Kent didn't feel good for the night either.

This morning she woke up recalling the incident and told us the cane marks still hurt and she won't be naughty again. However by the later half of the day she was back to her normal cheerful self again whereas Kent and I are still feeling 心疼 each time we see the cane marks.

我问自己这样的管教方式到底是在惩罚孩子还是我们呢?或许体罚对他们带来的影响还不及于对我们的精神惩罚来的重。以下的这张照片是要提醒自己和Kent以后不要再这样“折磨”自己了 ...

New found interest

Yeah, it's Sunday!! And our new 14" bikes were delivered today! Mummy had been doing the countdown with us since Daddy and her went to buy the bikes on Wednesday. She didn't expect Carrefour to have no stock of the bikes therefore she told us in the morning that we'll get our bikes when we are back from school. However the stocks could only come in few days later and delivery on Sunday.

Since then we had been asking for the bikes everyday. "Bicycles 在那里?" "Today is XXXday, the bicycles will come on Sunday" That was Mummy's daily reply to us. And finally Sunday came ...

Gorgor, why are you so slow?

I'm coming ... Wait for me ...

Bottles in the dustbin

Though it had been half a year since we've moved on from milk bottles to training cups to normal cups for our milk at home (actually we stopped drinking milk at home since 2-3 months back), we are still using our milk bottles for the afternoon feed in school. However some changes were made since the doctor had told Mummy to do away with milk for Reyes. No more milk for her in school, she made do with plain water before nap. And seeing the dirty teats for both our bottles, Mummy thought she shall make a decision to cut away this habit instead of getting new teats.

Initially she was concerned that we might not be willing with peer pressure. Therefore she still packed our bottles in the bags for us just in case we refuse to use the cups. However the teachers gave her the good news that we took to the cups well and Reyden even told them "我长大了,用杯,不要奶瓶了。"

So Mummy took the chance that evening to ask us again and if we still want our dirty milk bottles or throw them away. We gladly threw them into the dustbins ourselves. That's the last we'll see anymore milk bottles in the house ... till we have another "creature" in the house that needs it again.

Play @ Explorerkids & Dinner @ Buddy Hoagies

Our school is closed for a concert rest day and Mummy seeing that the Explorerkid's Monday Mania promo is coming to an end soon, she decided to bring us there again.

It was rather crowded today and we actually met quite a few of our classmate/schoolmates there. What a small Singapore ...

We had dinner at Buddy Hoagies with Dan and Yaz after play. The restaurant serves pretty good western and kids' sets.

Our very 1st concert

This concert had been in preparation since months ago. We had countless of rehearsals in school and at the actual performance location, NAFA Lee Foundation Theatre. The teachers had put in much effort in putting together today's wonderful programme and needless to say, the parents enjoyed the performance and the students had a great time putting up their best show.

The K2 graduating concert is a joint event by Carpe Diem M1 Schoolhouse and Carpe Diem First Years.

It's about a K2 Gorgor's dream to travel around the world. He gets to go to Africa, Eygpt, Russia, Spain, Philippines, China, Thailand and eventually back to Singapore. The students put up dances of all these countries and we were in the Chinese and Thai dance plus 2 songs in the finale.

Mummy was pretty worried that we might get cranky by our turns and will start to fuss but to her surprise, we didn't! In fact we enjoyed performing very much. This gives Mummy and Daddy the confidence to let us join for next year's performance as well.

Proudly brought to you by Carpe Diem Hougang & Pasir Ris.
