Chawamushi - Part 2

Forgot to take a pix of the ingredients & too lazy to type out the recipe in the last chawamushi post. Some friends had asked me for it so shall share here.

Chawamushi:
chicken fillets cut into small cubes
fresh scallops cut into small cubes (leave this out if your child is allergic to seafood)
chinese mushroom also cut into small cubes
Japanese udon noodles cut into small pcs (add this if you want it to be a filling meal for your child - idea 'stole' from Aunty Pax)
pumpkin cut into small cubes (Or you can use sweet corns too.)
eggs
chicken stock

- Beat an egg in a small rice bowl
- Add the various ingredients into the bowl
- Pour chilled stock into the mixture
- Leave it to steam for half an hour before serving
ps: when serving young children, take note that the cooked egg is very hot.

Stock:
Big pork bone
Chicken neck & back bone
Celery
Onions
Carrot
Cabbage
Ikan Bilis
Garlic

- Roast the bones in the oven at 180 degree for about half an hour. (idea 'stole' from Aunty Joelle)
- Put all ingredients into pot of water and bring to boil.
- When boiled, turn to simmer for another few hours or even overnight in a slow cooker. (The longer the better)

Will be cooking this dish for them tomorrow thus preparation starts today.

This is the stock I've been simmering since this afternoon.

RR's speech development

Reyden's being quite slow in this area. To date, we had only heard mama, papa, kiki, didi, car, take & ball coming from his mouth. Probably he'll grow up a man of few words just like Daddy.
As for Reyes, known to all that she had inherited my "talkative" genes. Her vocabulary had increased tremendously over these few weeks. Started off with mama, daddy, kiki, ball, take & car. Then we heard her calling wai-po "mah" & Reyden 'che che'.?? She knows "water" when she's thirsty, 'bird', 'zhu' (pig in mandarin), 'sing' & 'bear' too. This evening was even better, Aunt Sally showed her a "kong bak pau" & told her it's "kong bak pau". And she repeated "kong bak" loud & clear after her! We were so amused by her.
Daddy & Mummy aren't really anxious about their developments though it's fun to have them walking & talking so soon.

New toys

R&R's post:

Mummy finally managed to spend the $50 kiddy palace voucher. She had went with the voucher on few occasions hoping to find us some useful & fun toys but to no avail. She said that it's getting tougher to source for toys for us now cos the toy must be educational/help in our gross & fine motor skills/fun & etc ... Daddy went with her this afternoon & got us a Leapfrog phonic bus & a FP Shake & Go dog. Mummy was actually more fascinated by the Shake & Go doggie than us. She had realised that we had quite abit of toys, books & puzzles on animals. But it's alright as she hopes that we'll grow up loving animals as much as she & Daddy do.

Changes to mummy' s life

Reyden's post:

Ever since that episode of mummy & daddy's small quarrel with Aunty Aida over our, (or rather my) disciplinary issues, the thought of being a SAHM started to linger in mummy's mind. After few discussions with Daddy, she decided to let go of the shop. And on her mind now is her resignation from work as well.

I know mummy isn't feeling too good about all these cos it's rather a major change in her life but she told me that she's doing it for the best interest of us. She felt bad enough that we had to share whatever time she has between us & not able to give us as much as if we are a singleton baby. She just didn't want to let our childhood slip past without her contributing much to it.

In fact mummy realised that she actually find pleasure in a SAHM's daily duties - bathing us, preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks for us, feeding us, bringing us out for play, playing with us, putting us to sleep & anything else that has got to do with us.

Whatever it is, we are also glad that Daddy had been rather supportive of her decisions. Let's hope Mummy will be able to go thru this transition period soon.

Mummy told us the last time she came here was 2 years ago when she & Daddy came for their bridal outdoor shoot. So much had changed here just as much as their lives.

New recipe for them - Chawamushi

Had tried this new recipe (with compliments from Aunty Pax form SMF) for them & they love it!! I love it too. :)
But I must say that the pix isn't doing much justice to the dish itself. Still trying to figure out how to make it look smoother & more appetising.
