The Animal Resort

Reyden & Reyes' post:

Today's Daddy & Mummy's 2nd wedding anniversary. They didn't go anywhere in particular for celebration. Both of them felt that we 2 are the best presents to each other so they brought us out today. We went to The Animal Resort off Seletar West Farmway. Daddy told us that they used to come here very often with Kiki & Boy Boy. They had their haircuts here too. We had fun with the rabbits, goats, parrots & chinchillas. Mummy says we would be able to buy food for the animals & feed them next time when we are older.
The thing that Daddy & Mummy don't like about this place is the selling of puppies. They had always advocate adoption instead of getting puppies from puppy mills. There are thousands of abandoned furkids waiting for kind souls to give them a home. And the breeding dogs behind are living in horrible environment. Dirty, viruses-infected & cramped cages, deprived of proper medical treatment, thrown/dump by the roadsides when they became blind, weak or sick. It's all too cruel to these furkids. Boy Boy was one of those suffering under the hands of these unscrupulous backyard breeders. We urged whoever are contemplating to get a puppy from these backyard breeders or petshops to think twice or maybe thrice. Adopt, don't buy. Give the abandoned furkids a chance, their love aren't any lesser & they are able to appreciate you too.

R&R's developments

The last 3 months had been eventful months for R&R's developments.

At 9mths
- Both were able to lift up her body & crawl on fours.
- Both could stand & cruise around.
- Both could wave bye bye.
- Reyden could clap his hands.

At 10mths
- Reyes was able to stand unsupported & take a few steps on her own.
- Reyes could clap her hands.
- Reyden could dance with his head nodding.
- Reyden could reject things by shaking his head.
- Both were able to point with their fingers.
- Reyes was able to grab small food with her fingers & self feed.

At 11mths
- Reyes was able to walk quite steadily without falling.
- Reyes was able to climb down from our bed on her own.
- Reyden could give a good-bye kiss.
- Reyden was able to grab small food with his fingers and self feed.

At 12 mths
- Reyes could walk with ease.
- Reyes could dance with nodding her head.
- Reyes was able to show with hand sign that she wants milk.
- Reyden started to stand with support & take unstable steps on his own.
- Both could climb up & down sofas & beds.
- Reyes knows how to kiss us, Reyden & Kiki.

As for their teeth, Reyden has 6 on top & 4 below whereas Reyes' still with her 4 top teeth & 4 bottom teeth.

Though they aren't the fastest in their development but I would say I'm rather proud of them. The PD would have told me "they are only 11 mths based on their corrected age!!" Ok, I know that.

Michelle Yiyi's wedding

Reyden was asked to be the "jumping boy" for the couple's bed. It's one of the Chinese custom that newlywed should get young boys to jump or roll on their new bed if they wants to have kids soon. Reyden apparently didn't jump but sat around like Humpty Dumpty. Anyway that's also job done.
The dinner in the evening was RR's 1st wedding dinner attended but Mummy told herself that before they turn 3, there won't be anymore wedding dinners for them. Probably you all can see from the pixs taken that Reyes wasn't in the pictures much. That's cos she had 'conspired' with Gor Gor to be the naughtier one for the night. Mummy didn't even get to eat her favourite dessert - yam paste with ginko nuts.

Twins Gathering at Aunty Karen's place

We had a twins gathering at Shaokai & Shaomin's place today & it was great!! Thank you to Karen for lending us her place. There were total 5 pairs of twins - Danial/Yazmin, Chloe/Gracia, Shaokai/Shaomin, Cayley/Austin & of cos Reyden/Reyes. The kids had a wonderful time at the house & also at the playground. Apparently they were keen in the pool as well but none of us were prepared for a swim so next time, kids?

R&R's 3 days of birthday celebration

Managed to get a pokemon cake for them last min on Sunday evening.

A day at the Zoo with Daddy, Mummy, Waipo & Yiyi.

Wanted to go Jacob Ballas Children Garden on Tuesday but it rained. So we ended up at Go Go Bambini off Dempsey Hill. It's a nice children place with a cafe that has children menu. Thanks to Fi for bringing us there.

Reyden's 1st few steps

Reyden finally let go of my hands & walked on his own today!! That's a nice development on his birthday. He probably knows that he's turning 1 today & he's a big boy now so he needs to walk instead of crawl.

Happy Birthday to Reyden & Reyes!!!

Mummy's post:

Happy birthday to our dear Reyden & Reyes!!!
I had planned to tell them so much things on this day but nothing comes out at this moment. Perhaps I'm too tired now. Will update when I'm in a clearer state of mind.

Exactly 1 year ago on 2nd Mar 07:
1am: Amniotic fluid bag leaked while I was watching TV & a gush of liquid flowed out.
1.15am: Showered, washed my hair, packed & went off to KKH.
1.40am: Admitted into delivery suite.
2am: Nurses, MOs & midwives came in to check on me almost every min. Was told that it was Reyden's amniotic fluid bag that burst. Reyes' still intact.
4am: Some joker came along & broke Reyes' fluid bag as well. Had IV drip tubes inserted in my hands, blood pressure monitor on my arm, fetal doppler monitors on my tummy, cervix checks & plenty of questions to answer. Given epidural injection as well.
8am: Finally saw Dr John Tee's face, estimated to deliver by noon time.
1pm: Noon time had passed, no sign of contractions or further dilation, no sight of John Tee either.
3pm: Kent decided to go home for a shower & feed Kiki.
3.30pm: MOs & nurses came in to say that Dr John Tee instructed to prepare me for c-section as it isn't too good for them to be without the amniotic fluid for too long.
4pm: Anaesthetist came in & gave me more dosage of the epidural.
4.30pm: Was pushed into the OT, saw John Tee's face again & alot of nurses as well. Everyone asked about Kent and were amused to learnt that he had went home to feed my dog. I didn't find that amusing though.
5.15pm: Anaesthetist was by my side, chatting with me to bring away my attention from the cut that John Tee was going to put on me.
5.37pm: Reyden was being "pulled" out from my tummy. He didn't cry like how babies in TV serial shows did. John Tee announced his birth time and went on to 'dig' for Reyes.
5.38pm: Reyes was out. Didn't feel the 'pulling' pressure this time round, perhaps she was much smaller than Reyden. They announced her birth time too.
6.10pm: Both of them were being checked by the paediatrician & cleaned up as well. Nurses then took turns to carry them to my side to show me & informed me of their birth weight. Couldn't see them clearly without my glasses. All I could make out was a dark & reddish Reyden & a super-duper small Reyes. I know it's an old line but still ~ Tears swelled up in my eyes when I saw them. The feeling was beyond description or perhaps I don't know how to. I just wanted to hug them closely to me but I wasn't allowed to.
6.30pm: John Tee went on to 'stitch' me back but some complications arised due to my high blood pressure & suspected case of postpartum hemorrhaging.
7.30pm: Managed to be 'stitched' back & pushed out of the OT alive but not kicking though. Was sent to the special care ward due to high blood pressure & vomitting. Finally I saw Kent ... I missed him so much. I could sensed his excitment over the little ones.
10pm: Transferred to normal ward.
12am: Felt lost & sad without both of them by my side. Especially so when I heard baby cries next bed, next room. Reyden & Reyes were far away from me at the SCN (Special Care Nursery) ...

The rest are all history!!! It had been a great 1 year and we'll be looking forward to more of the happy years ahead with Reyden & Reyes.

We had planned to bring them to the Singapore Zoological Garden on Mon & Jacob Ballas Children's Garden on Tues.
