New dishes

Didn't have much time to prepare their lunch & dinner today therefore it was 2 simple meals. Tried giving them rice vermicelli with spinach, pork & fish for lunch today & they liked it!

Ingredients
- 50gm of threadfin fillet cut into small pieces
- 50gm of lean pork cut into small pieces
- 1 piece of the rice vermicelli
- 2 tablespoons of chopped spinach
- 5 big finely chopped button mushrooms
- 10 small pieces of dried scallops

Preparing
- Put the dried scallops, button mushrooms, chopped spinach into a pot of water & bring to boil for 10-15mins.
- Add in the fish & pork when the dried scallops had become soft.
- Put the rice vermicelli in when the fish & pork are half cooked. Do not add in too early as it will become very soft if cook for too long. Remember to break it into small pieces before cooking. Else can just use a scissors to cut them up after cooked.
- Optional to add a dash of pepper.

Dinner was simpler but a yummy one too. Steamed pumpkin with potato, toufu & fish. I added a teaspoon of milk powder to it as well.

Enjoying their meals ...

I had made french toast for their teabreak today too. However only egg yolk was used as it's still too early to expose them to egg white yet. So they had tried 3 new dishes today. More coming up ...

Home Alone with the 2 terrors!

It had been some time since Auntie Aida went on her monthly off. We were so used to her being around handling the 2Rs. Almost freaked out when the thought of handling the 2 of them all by myself struck me. Nevetheless today the 2Rs were rather cooperative, no war to be fought during meal & bathing times.
Realised they had grown up, no longer at their infant stage. The last time I took care of them by myself was at their 4th month. Things were messy & out of control then. Today was a different scenario altogether. They had only made sounds of protest when they did their "big business" or felt sleepy. They were even able to keep themselves entertained with toys when I was feeding or bathing the other R. My Reyden & Reyes had grown up!!
The only thing I'm complaining about is their weight. It's putting a strain on my old back injury. Having to carry them in & out of cradles/cots/walkers/highchairs/bathtub is really a tough job. Adding both their weights came up to about 18+kg. Imagine having to carry a load of 18kg around for the whole day? Wonder how Auntie Aida managed to put on weight despite all the "weight-lifting". Hopefully they'll learn to walk soon so that I won't have to carry them around.
Anyway I brought them out by myself for the 1st time today. Though it was only a walk in the neighbourhood, but I'm still pretty proud about it.

Reyes Boy

Boy or Gal?? At least 5 people had asked me the same question for the last few days. Think she looks better dressed as a boy.

A peep at her new cot. She simply loves it. Come to think of it, it could be due to the new cot that she's sleeping on time these 2 days, not that she's a good gal??

Reyden's down with fever

Reyden was down with fever since Wednesday. Temperature varies between 38 & 39. Brought him to the doctor on Thursday but still of no help in bringing his fever down. Alternate between Nurofen & paracetamol every 3 hourly, sponged him at the neck, armpits & groin areas still didn't help. Eventually gave in to my mum's advice - brew some "ling yang" ~ antelope horn's water for him. It really did help. By Fri evening, his temperature had came down to 37.6~37.9 & it remained at 37+ for the whole of today. Not sure whether is it cos of the "ling yang" but anyway thank God for bringing his fever down else I really won't know what to do. However, though the fever gone, he had 4 times of diarrhea today. He just woke crying pitifully, guess it must be cos of the stomach virus. Hope it'll go away as well. Reyden's being a good boy the last few days, didn't fuss or cry though I know he isn't feeling great. He just showed a weary & sad face. It hurts seeing him like that. My birthday wish is for him to recover asap ...

Look at his sick & sad face.

Not forgetting to mention that Reyes had been a good gal too. Think she knows that the brother is sick. She gladly finished whatever I cooked for the last 2 days. (usually it takes 1 hr to feed her) & she slept on time daily without much hassle too. Thank you Reyes!

Tricycle rides

Havn't been posting for almost 2 weeks. So busy & tired with work & shop. Nevertheless still manage to squeeze out time for new recipes & try out new food with R&R. On the "new food" records are avocado, egg york, salmon, bananas, turnip, yoghurt, ice-cream & etc ... Glad to say they aren't allergic to any of these.
Exciting things to look forward are the arrival of Reyden's baby cot & Fernvale's mummies' trip to the gymboree tomorrow. Reyden had spoilt his play pen with his mighty strength so no choice gotta get a 4 steps cot-to-junior bed for him. Had spent quite a sum on them this week. A Maclaren Twin Rally stroller, a baby cot, a dozen tins of Enfapro milk powder & many pack of Huggies & Nepia diapers (lost count of how many packs). The milk powder & diapers should last them for another 2-3 mths.

Obssesed with toys ...

Daddy says Mummy's sick. According to Kent, I'm down with an illness called "Toys Obsession" . I've just got them another toy - Fisherprice Laugh & Learn Musical Learning Chair

And I've got Waipo to help them get the tricycle that Reyes likes. Think Reyden would love it too. Waipo had gotten the blue one for them cos Reyes already has the pink coupe car. We'll be expecting major shifting of the furniture in our house in the next 2 months. Coming along the way would be a playyard to "cage" them, a single bed to join to our bed for Reyes & a new & smaller sofa to accomodate the playyard. Kent says that the things that I've gotten for them are getting bigger in size & cost & he had given up on me so there's no one to stop me from getting more for them!!!
