The arrival of Reyden & Reyes

2nd of Mar 2007
The arrival of Reyden & Reyes.

1am: Admitted to hospital. Was in the delivery ward for 15 hours after Reyden's amniotic bag burst. No contractions, no pain, nothing & the gynae finally decided to do a c-section before infection sets in.
4.30pm: Pushed into the operating theatre for the 1st time of my life. Almost fainted when they told me I'll be conscious throughout the operation. Saw the nurses, anaesthetist & my gynae thru their preparation work & before I know it, I heard Reyden's 1st cry & Reyes' 1st cry 1 min later.
7.30pm: Transferred to the normal ward but both of them weren't with me. They were in the special care nursery as they are premature babies. Felt kinda sad when I heard the other babies crying beside their mummies in the wards ...
I was discharged 2 days later but both of them had to stay in the hospital. Reyden was due to bad jaundice & had to go thru the phototherapy treatment & observation. Reyes was due to underweight. She would only be allow back when her weight reaches 2kg.

7th Mar 2007The home-coming of Reyden.

His bilirubin level that causes the jaundice had came down after 2 sessions of phototherapy treatment. We can finally pick him back!

11th Mar 2007
The home-coming of Reyes.

Her weight finally goes up to 2kg! It was a long wait for her to be back with us. Nevertheless she's back with us. :)
As for the rest, it's all gonna be lots of hard work. shall update again ...

Happy Piggy Year!!!

Happy Piggy Year to everyone!!!
Havn't been posting for a long time. Been so busy & tired recently. Gottta prepare lots of things for the CNY, for Reyden & Reyes' arrivals, for my delivery & etc ...
Stomach getting bigger & heavier too, making the pregnancy more & more unbearable. The good thing is gynae said that they should be out in another 2-3 weeks' time. :) Good for me but not sure would it be too early for them to be out at 36th wk.
Caught in this dilemma - happy that my hardship's ending soon but on the other hand, the longer they stay inside, the better it is for them. At least they won't come out under-size.
So my schedule for the next 2-3 wks would be just eat, sleep & wait ...

Names for my precious duo

Finally we had decided on their names. It was through sessions of brain-storming & decisions-making before the names were chosen. Keep my fingers crossed that no one in the family will raise any further disagreement.
The naming process was a difficult one cos:
- both our family's dialect group - Hokkien. Chinese words like '明' becomes 'Beng', '成' becomes 'Seng', '良' becomes 'Leong' & etc. Most of the words sounded real awkward in Hokkien.
- My grandma had stated that juniors in the family are not allowed to use characters that had been used by the seniors in family. So, many words are out. Even if same pronunciation but different character is also disallowed.
- I want something similar for both of them cos they are twins mah. But cos of the different genders therefore it was a headache too.
- Kent wants something easy to write for the chinese characters so they won't have much difficulties learning to write their names in future ...
- My sis keeps insisting some of the names we came up with are ‘土’.
- We need to find something that's easy for us to think of related names if we were to have a 3rd or 4th child. :)
With all these main factors plus some minor concerns in, the whole process was like ...
Nevertheless, we finally settled on 2 tentative names. subject to changes cos of a fickle-minded mummy. hahaha!

Gal - Reyes Ng Ruishi 黄瑞诗
Boy - Reyden Ng Ruitian 黄瑞添

The whole family's quite happy with these names so far. So if no further objections till birth, these should be their names. :)
p.s.: Oh ya, my sis & I even managed to think of similar chinese names for Kiki & Giogio too. Ruiqi & Ruizu, hahaha!!!!

Happy 2007!!!

Happy 2007 to everyone! Being so busy & lazy for the whole festive season, therefore didn't update my blog for a long time.
I like X'mas period cos of the parties & gifts' exchange going on. :) I've got quite alot of pressies from friends, colleagues & my sis too. My Reyes & Reyden had got a pressie each too. Thanks to Carol Yiyi on their behalf.
Don't really like new year though cos it means growing older by another year, everything get restart in office & ... felt so sad after the holidays cos gonna start to work hard for the year 2007. Luckily still something for me to look forward to in Mar - the arrivals of my 2 precious babies.
Went for scan & checkup last week, gynae said they are growing very well. He couldn't give me their lengths cos they were curled up, aren't laying straight anymore. But he could still measure the sizes of their heads, bodies, lengths of arms & legs.
They are getting real big now with diameters of their heads measuring at 8cm & 7cm respectively ~ Reyden is slightly bigger in size than Reyes. :) No wonder I'm getting heavier & feeling out of breath easily now.
Really looking forward to their arrivals, at least I won't be feeling so uncomfortable anymore ...

I'm having 龙凤台!!!

Went for my detailed scan today. It was a 3 hrs long scan ... The sonographer confirmed the 1st baby is a gal. Then moving on to the 2nd baby, the sonographer said: "seems like you are having 2 gals." Felt abit disappointed ... Then she said: " Wait, wait, it's a boy! you see its xxx? Immediately, I lifted my head & see. It's really a boy!!! :p
Not that I prefer boys, but it's probably some kind of hope that they are of different genders. :)
After knowing the genders, here comes the tough part ... My boy wouldn't turn his face towards us & the sonographer had difficulties checking his heart. I was told to cough, move & walk around to make him change his position but he simply won't budge. So I was told to go for longer walk. We took a 10 mins walk before going back to the room & he moved a tiny-weeny bit. Enough for them to scan his heart. Heart is growing well. :)
Next came another challenge ... My gal was laying on her back so unable to check her spine. I was told to go for a drink this time round. Arrrggghhh!!! Hubby said we'll come back another day but I don't want. I'm not going to leave before knowing both of them are growing fine. Guess that's the difference between mummies & daddies.
We went for a drink this time round. Luckily my gal is more of a darling. She changed her position when we were back. No problem with spine. :)
Daddy said both of them are already being difficult even before they are out. We'll gonna have a hard time in future ...

Rebonded hair

Call me stubborn or wilful ... I went to rebond my hair few days ago, heehee. And the reaction I've gotten so far was "You can rebond your hair meh?!!" To be frank, I'm not sure about it either. Many told me the chemical isn't good for my babies & some other old wives' myths. It's not that I don't care but the permed hair is really irritating me & I don't think it helps in any way either. Just made me felt frustrated & warm often.
Asked my hubby, mum & MIL before doing it. They all gave me the green light. My mum said she also went to perm her hair when she had me. So I thought I'll just go ahead since no objections from them. :)
Glad that I went ahead with it anyway. Hair is more manageable now, don't feel that warm anymore.

Advice to those planning for kids - Make your hairstyle manageable & don't colour it before you conceive else either you'll have to bear with your unmanageable & colour-faded hair or the nagging of the people around you for 9 months.

I have a gal! (The other naughty one still unknown)

I went for my checkup today. So exciting!! Gynae told me one of them is a gal (could even tell me her location is on my left hand side.) Couldn't really see the other one clearly. There was "something" sticking out but not clear so gynae didn't wanna confirm yet. We could even see their little feet kicking in the air. They are measuring at 7.7cm & 7.8cm respectively which means both had their equal share of my food indulgence. :)

As for the to-do list I was supposed to stick to, only some of them had been done. More to do for next week ...
- Upload all the pixs from the camera
- Pack my car boot
- Send car for polishing
- Going back office to get work done
- Work out the shortage of my this year's quota (only 2 months left, boss sure kill me. :p)
- Fix up my appointments for the next few weeks
- Renew my passport for Malacca trip end of the month
- Go collect babies' stuff from Bukit Batok
- Collect greenies for Kiki from Woodlands
And there still more things to add on, now too tired to think of it liao. Gotta go zzz 1st. :p
